LAA Modigliani

First DVD Evening featuring Amedeo Modigliani

Set in 1919, the last year of Amedeo Modigliani’s art career before his tragic death, the film focuses on his rather extreme lifestyle and bitter antagonism towards Pablo Picasso.

Nearly 30 people gathered in the hall where vintage motorbikes had been moved aside to make room for our fist DVD evening together as an Association. The hall is normally reserved for motorbike lovers...

The event was facilitated by Kato Neveling, LAA secretary, at her home on Wednesday 2nd March. Kato’s husband, Chirs – an ardent biker - kindly offered the hall. The premises is situated opposite Penryn at Chris Craft.

Kato worked hard to make us feel at home. Apart from a spotless venue we were catered for with juice, coffee, tea and various snacks and treats. Next time we may add popcorn to the menu...

Sarah Koster, our chair lady discussed the upcoming art festival, Lowveld Art A’Fair, which will be held at the Van Riebeeck Hall from the 3rd to 6th of May.

Various names for the event had been entered and all the members and visitors who attended had an opportunity to vote.

The Lowveld Art A’Fair promises to become an annual high light not only as an exhibition, but as an art event to attract as much visitors as possible. Workshops, lectures, DVD’s, fine cuisine and much more are in the pipeline for the Fair.
